Oma Comes for a Visit

Grrrr, these pictures are all out of order...not sure why, so we'll just have to roll with it! Oma surprised us one day by calling to see if she could make a trip out here for a couple of days. Of course we were ecstatic and agreed right away! We had such a LOVELY (do you like that Oma ;)  ) time!!! We picked blueberries, we went apple picking, she played Nerf gun wars with the boys, and we went fishing and caught about 20 fish! Pure loveliness.

It had rained a lot the previous day, so the kids had the grandest of times playing in all the puddles. They enjoyed this more than actually picking the blueberries.
Oma is the coolest! She played all kinds of nerf gun wars! She's lethal!

Look at the size of those leaves! We learned this is called an "elephant ear bush".

"Why, yes, little mud puddle...I would love to join you!"

Catching butterflies...
Ashten's heaven...
Don't cha love the looks on their faces???!!! It was extremely humid and hot this day. They were so excited picking blueberries for all of five minutes. Then...not so much. We did end up getting a ton though! And I think they were ok with standing in the heat after I made blueberries muffins with the fruits of their labors that nigh for dinnert! Mmmmmm!
Ashten was better at picking and eating than picking and putting in the bucket!

This was one of the most beautiful areas I have ever seen! This is in North Carolina. We live really close to the border of NC, so we drove out here to go apple picking. It was really windy, as you can see!

A full diaper, and no shorts...just give us the "worst parents award" now! In our defense, he was so happy in the puddles, we just HAD to let him at it. The shrieks of joy as he splashed justified no pants for the rest of the trip. :)

We couldn't put our poles in fast enough! Every time our pole dropped into the water, there was a fish on it a few seconds later. It was awesome! We took 20 fish home that day!

Mommy even pulled in a few!

Sometimes we get a little too creative on hot, summer days...after hearing shrieks of delight from the living room, I walk in to find the boys had hung a sheet down from the second story loft down to the living room and were pulling Aaron up on it. They managed to pull him all the way up! OH. MY. The bright side of this adventure...??? They all got a good workout! AND I have taught them well, they said it was completely safe because they had taken all the cushions off the couches and placed them at the bottom in case he fell. sheesh.
