Playen' Hookie at Legoland

Alex had a sad summer. His two best friends moved away. So, in lieu of a "friend" birthday party this year we let him skip two days of school and took him to Legoland! Aren't we awesome parents!!! :) Last year I was largely pregnant while at Legoland. So, here is Alex showing me the ropes on the Dinosaur roller coaster! (I have my hands in the air and Alex is right next to me).

We had a lot of "down" time while waiting in line. The kids busied themselves digging for snails. Here is Alex with his little dirt-dig treasure! I couldn't believe how many there were!

Aiden with is dirt digging treasure...they had names for their snails, but I am behind on blogging and for the life of me I can't remember what they were!

HAD to document the fact that Aiden actually got on a ride that goes over 2 m.p.h.! Aiden = NOT A THRILL SEEKER.

Also had to document Alex's first time on a "big boy" roller coaster. He was terrified throughout the entire ride. He didn't want to ride this one again. But we did find a dragon coaster that was fast and fun as well. He wanted to ride that one over, and over, and...you get it.

Sometimes Aaron likes to pretend that he's shy.

Andy was telling Alex that he was going to show this picture of him on this ride to a certain young lady. Apparently it's NOT cool to be riding a plastic horse. Who knew???

Funny story here. Here is one of those "carnival" type games where you have to knock down three pins to win a prize, but you only get three tries. So, Aiden is convinced that he can do it because, you know, he DID play a season of t-ball. We tried to talk him out of it...but he pays his last dollars and fails to knock over three. He is DEVASTATED. Alex says, "I'll do it and I'll give the prize (which were plush Angry Birds, which was the whole REASON they wanted to win so bad) to Aiden. We try to talk Alex out of it because we are sure that soon we will have TWO crying boys. But alas, trying to change Alex's mind about something is a very difficult task indeed! He pays his money...AND KNOCKS THREE OVER! He WON the bird!!! We couldn't believe it! The lady gives him the angry bird and Alex hands it over to Aiden. TWO HUGE SMILES! ...next we have Aaron who has watched his brother win and is convinced he will win as well. ...oh boy...sure enough he did NOT win and is in tears. Now he is fighting over the angry bird Alex won. They all want it now. SUPER FUN TIMES AT LEGOLAND. After much debate, the bird is awarded to Aiden. They still all want it. Lots of tears follow...and more tears. We get back to the hotel and it accidentally falls in the toilet (really, it was an accident). No more tears...no body wants it. Carnival games = not for everyone.
